HONOUR FUND RECIPIENTS 2025
Citation for Pastor Kew See Seong

Pastor Kew See Seong has served as Pastor of the Chinese congregation of Zion Bishan Bible-Presbyterian Church since April 2000.

For 23 years, he has zealously and faithfully fulfilled his calling as God’s ordained minister and servant. From preaching from the pulpit to shepherding of the flock, he has been faithful. Together with the elders and fellow-workers, he worked to develop and renew the Chinese ministry in our church.

From the initial two worship services, the ministry has grown to today's four services, a sign of God’s blessing. He has also contributed to the establishment of the working committees and the council of leaders serving with him. Pastor Kew’s loyal service and hard work are evident in all these years of growth.

In September 2023, having reached the age of retirement, he stepped down from his position as Pastor, and handed the ministry to younger leaders. Even so, he continues to serve as invited in preaching, visitation and pastoral care. He will be remembered for faithfully preaching God’s Word (I Timothy 3:16) and taking care of God’s flock (John 21:15).

May the Lord remember the service and labours of Pastor Kew as He has promised, “for your labours will not be in vain in the Lord” (I Cor 15.58). May God’s grace and peace be upon him and his family always!

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭58‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Citation for Pastor Timothy Phua

Timothy Phua was studying at Singapore Bible College when he chose for his Field Education a church at Serangoon Gardens, Cherith Baptist Church.

When he graduated, the church called him to be their pastor. During his pastorate from 1988 to 2000, the church of 40 mainly grey-haired members, lacking unity and direction, grew to 200. “By 2000, Cherith had two fully renovated properties, with a pastor for the English congregation, a pastor for the Chinese congregation, a Youth Pastor, an Administrator, and a team of lay leaders, united, growing, and glowing with the joy of thanksgiving.” [
Faithful in Ministry, Fruitful in Mission, p.63]

That year, Pastor Timothy answered another call for help, this time from Mount Horeb Bible-Presbyterian Church. He went on to pastor the church for 23 years. Unlike Cherith, Horeb did not have their own property, and met in the afternoon slot at Hebron Bible-Presbyterian Church.

During his tenure, Pastor Timothy also served as the Moderator of the Bible-Presbyterian Church in Singapore.

In 2022, due to health reasons, he stepped down. We are grateful to honour a servant of God who has served his Lord diligently and faithfully. We offer him and his wife Christina, together with their two sons and two granddaughters, our loving prayers for the years ahead.

“Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.”Acts‬ ‭20‬:‭26‬-‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬
